Winning my State Class in 2017 with a 4-way playoff and going to the World in 2019 and finishing 8th. What is your biggest disappointment? showing up at a tournament and getting rained out. Barry McClure got me started and I have been a member for 30 years and have since built a building with 4 courts so myself and other players can play year round, rain or shine. Well, I pitched all of my life in family reunions and get togethers. I started pitching in the League and KHPA after seeing an ad in the newspaper and calling A.B. Webb.What do you enjoy most about the sport of horseshoes? Hollering out a FOOOOUR DEAD!!!!!. What is your biggest pet peeve in horseshoe pitching? Not getting started on time. If you say something is going to start at a specific time, then it should start at that time.What are your goals to achieve in horseshoe pitching? To win the Elder Men's State Championship. I screwed up in 2016 when I had beat Bob Hudnall & Jim Culver (The Top 2 finishers), and then turned around and let (Jim) Baker beat my #$$!!! What is your biggest accomplishment? Being the ECHPA League Champion four out of six times.. What is your biggest disappointment? Pitching an 8% game at Campbellsville in 2011. What pitcher has most influenced your game and how? John Neagle, because he is serious all the time and never gets rattled. He is calm as a cucumber. Also, Bill Garrett improved my game by telling me "Mr. Browning, you've got to start hitting that peg to improve your game"...and I did. Who is your toughest pitching opponent? I began pitching in Lexington, KY when my next door neighbor set up stakes in his back yard. I would go next door and pitch with him, his friends and his dad. Later and I put some stakes in my backyard.What do you enjoy most about the sport of horseshoes? I love the sound of shoes clanging against each other and the stake when people are pitching. What is your biggest pet peeve while pitching? My biggest pet peeve is movement in and around the pit/court while someone is pitching.What are your goals to achieve in horseshoe pitching? For 2020 my goals are to break into the top 20 in ringer percentage, obtain a 40% ringer average and win the Class C State tournament. What is your biggest accomplishment? My biggest accomplishment was winning the Class B State Championship in 2015. What is your biggest disappointment? My biggest disappointment was my 2011 Class C State tournament. I did a pitiful job of defending the title. My pitching was awful! What pitcher has most influenced your game and how? Sherman, Commissioner of Black Mudd Park, Louisville, KY who taught me to focus on making ringers and not the other pitcher. Dwight Gibson taught me to keep quiet if you can't pitch and talk at the same time. Gary Owens taught me to forget about the last pitch and focus on the one that you are pitching now. Who is your toughest pitching opponent? My toughest opponents would be my mentors - Kenny Parrish, John Deere, aka Dwight Gibson, and Terry Stewart.
